Within EPAM company we are planning to establish a Consultancy Branch to help top-tier clients solve their most complex business and technology issues and to advise them about new technologies.
This role will be located at Gdansk. First project will be for a worldwide insurance company, which provides around 31 million customers with insurance, savings and investment products. Our customer is the UK’s largest insurer and one of Europe’s leading providers of life and general insurance.
Requirements
Proven understanding with Apache Hadoop HBase and Hive (HiveQL);
Knowledge of at least 2 of the followings: HBase, Hive, Pig, Impala, Spark and HBase;
Strong knowledge in Java back-end programming;
Knowledge of database structures, theories, principles, and practices;
Familiarity with data loading tools like Flume, Sqoop;
Knowledge of workflow/schedulers like Oozie;
Analytical and problem solving skills;
Good aptitude in multi-threading and concurrency concepts;
Knowledge of modern software engineering practices, such as Test Driven Development, Behaviour Driven Development, Continuous Integration and Agile delivery experience (Scrum & Kanban);
Cloudera Certified Developer for Apache Hadoop (CCDH);
Fluent English;
Valid EU Passport.
Responsibilities
Developing Hadoop analytical scripts and MapReduce algorithms;
ETL of disparate data sets in a Hadoop data lake;
Writing high-performance, reliable and maintainable code;
Create scalable and high-performance web services for data tracking;
Being a part of a POC effort to help build new Hadoop clusters.
